It has been 18 years since Google launched AdWords and a lot has changed since then. Starting off as only a search advertising platform to connect online users with businesses, the large family of advertising products Google now offers was becoming increasingly complex. So they have now introduced simpler brands and solutions for their advertising products: Google Ads, Google Marketing Platform, and Google Ad Manager.
Google AdWords Is Now Google Ads
Dropping the ‘Words’ makes sense. The Google Search Network, where you bid on key-‘words’ is now just part of the Google advertising product along with image ads, product ads, video ads, map ads and more. Along with this change Google will be introducing a new Ad Campaign option called Smart Campaigns. They show your ads to customers who are more likely to call, visit your store, or make a purchase on your website. Claiming that these types of campaigns are 3 times better at getting your ad in front of the right audience.
Along with Google AdWords becoming Google Ads. DoubleClick advertiser products and the Google Analytics 360 Suite will be under a single brand: Google Marketing Platform. If you monetize your website with Double Click you’ll also see the new name as Google Ad Manager. Google will start rolling out this rebranding in July.
